Hella Good Market at Drake's the Barn Sacramento

This was my first major market as "Hollow World" and I had such an amazing experience! The event coordinator and the other vendors were so friendly and helpful. I found it so cool that the new "Voodoo Heart" and "Eye of the Heart" designs were such hard hitters with the men at the market! 

My favorite part of the market was being asked what the inspiration was behind the new "Eye of the Heart" design. As I was explaining that I had recently taken a pretty deep dive into religious studies and was enjoying applying what I know as a gnostic with my understanding of the teachings of Christ and Mary Magdalene, which I find to be incongruent with what's being preached in the church, I kept getting nods of approval and encouraging words from someone shopping the neighboring tent. He ended up coming over and buying one of my designs! 

This interaction perfectly highlights the inspiration behind all of the "Sacred Summer" collection; unlocking the code that spirituality was never meant to be a rigid, fixed, institutionalized system. Spirituality is evolving and fluid and should be expressive and conversational.  

The symbolism in religious text is meant to be digested and interpreted on a very personal level, in a similar way, I'd like "Sacred Summer" and all my artwork to offer insight while inviting introspection.
